You need a tile count and a layout you can show the installer — not a rough area estimate. This walkthrough takes you from first open to an agreed scheme.
1. Open the planner
Sign in (or start a demo without registering) and open the tiling planner. Create a renovation project first if you can — the layout then sits next to expenses and other plans.
On a phone, use the mobile tile calculator app so you can measure on site and sync later.
2. Enter real sizes
- Choose wall or floor.
- Enter length and height (or floor width and depth) in meters — the area you will actually tile.
- Set tile size, joint width, and pattern (straight, offset, diagonal, and more).
Tip: measure in several places. Old walls are rarely perfect rectangles. When sizes disagree, use the larger figure and talk it through with the tiler.
3. Add openings
Add windows and doors, set their sizes, and place them on the diagram. The material list uses net area after openings — that is what you glue and grout.
Before ordering, check that the door on the plan matches the real swing.
4. Check thin cuts (Sliver Guard)
If an edge would leave a strip narrower than 50 mm, the planner warns you. Change the layout start or agree a different cut line with the installer. Those strips crack easily — do not leave them “by eye.” See how to avoid thin tile cuts.
5. Read the piece-count list
The sidebar shows:
- whole tiles and cuts;
- adhesive, primer, and grout from net area;
- boxes and an estimated total in your project currency.

6. When you need a Blueprint for the tiler
Export a Project Blueprint when you want a formatted drawing with cut labels. On desktop, high-resolution export needs Pro. In the mobile app, export can be unlocked with a short ad — see Pricing.
If you change wall size or openings after export, that is new geometry and a new Blueprint.
7. Agree the layout on site
Print the Blueprint or open the plan on a tablet. Confirm in messages or the contract that the layout is agreed — fewer disputes about “extra” boxes and waste at walls.
