Tile adhesive is sold in bags with a coverage rate on the label (for example kg per m² at a given trowel notch). Guessing “three bags for the flat” is how leftovers pile up — or how you run out mid-wall.
What drives the number
- Net area after windows, doors, and other openings.
- Wall or floor type and tile thickness (set in the planner).
- Manufacturer coverage for your trowel size.
Layout pattern (diagonal vs straight) changes cuts, but the glued area is still the net field. Primer, when you use it, is also area-based.
Steps
- Build the layout in the tiling planner with real sizes and openings.
- Open the on-screen material list — adhesive and primer appear with the tile count.
- Round up to whole bags using the pack size on the product you will buy.
- Read the bag: if the label says more kg/m² than the planner assumption, trust the label for that product.
